The German Award is offering three kinds of leaders’ courses:
Award Leaders Course (ALC – Grundlehrgang): mandatory for all Expedition Assessors, Award Leaders and at least the Award Unit Leader and two of her/his deputies);
Expedition Training Course (ETC – Lehrgang Expeditionstechnik): recommended for Trainers, Supervisors and Assessors in the Expeditions’ Section;
Award Management Course (AMC, Leitungslehrgang): mandatory for at least the Award Coordinator and two of her/his deputies of every Operating Authority.
Every International School in Germany running the Award is, at the same time, an Award Unit and an Operating Authority. So at least three Award Leaders must take part first in an Award Leaders Course and after that in an Award Management Course. If the Leader or Deputy Leader changes, there is a deadline of one year to take part in an Award Leaders Course and a deadline of two years for the Award Management Course. Also, once a year at least one representative of the Operating Authority has to take part in an Operators Conference (OC).
For delivering the Gold standard a licence extension is needed. For this, the Operating Authority must show that it has a team with at least an Award Coordinator and four deputies, who have attended an Award Leaders Course and an Award Management Course – and also two Wild Country Assessors.
